Several morphological characteristics of Pinus durangensis Mtz. were analyzed. A comparison among provenances and the holotype and its protologue was made from different populations of this species in "La Michilia" biosphere reserve. A high variation in number and size of several structures was detected. Possible relations of those traits with soils and degree of aridity are noted, and an ecotype from semiarid conditions is distinguished.
