Corn is one the three most important sources of nourishment for the world’s population. The object of this research is to determine the effect of the waste BOF C2 inert over some physical and chemical properties in a calcareous soil, and to determine also the combined effect of the BOF C2 inert and organic matter over the development and yearly corn yield. This test was made in plots of 16 m2, applying 0, 15 and 30 t ha-1 of organic matter (MO) and 0, 2, 4 and 6 t ha-1 of BOF C2 inert waste (Es). The design was a randomized one in divided plots. The soil was evaluated for bulk density (Da), solids density (Ds), porous space (E), field capacity (CC), point of permanent withering (PMP), hydraulic conductivity (K), organic matter content (MO), electrical conductivity (CE), pH, soluble calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), and soluble iron (Fe). The plant was assayed for days to masculine flowering (DMF), days to feminine flowering (DFF), plant height (AP) and ear height (AM), root lying (AR), stem lying (AT) and ear yield (Ren.). The traits affected by BOF C2 inert waste and organic matter were Da, PMP, E, and CC, the other traits remain equal or lost some of their values such was the case with pH, Ds, K, MO, Ca, Mg, and Fe. In the plant only OFF was affected. It may be stated that the use of inert waste BOF C2 in the this culture will help to reduce the deterioration of the physical and chemical properties of many useful calcareous soils.
