The aim of this study was to determine if sexually unexperienced male goats, exposed to an artificial long day condition, in order to stimulate its sexual behavior, may stimulates the estrous activity in anestrous female goats by sole male effect. Two male goats with sexual experience, and two other unexperienced ones were submitted to a 2.5 months long day period to stimulate their sexual activity during the non-breeding season. One group of multiparous females (n = 10) was exposed to sexually experienced males, and another group (n = 10) was exposed to unexperienced. The sexual behavior of males (ano-genital sniffing, nudging, mount attempts, mounts, self-urination and flehmen response) was recorded for 1.5 hours during the first 5 days of contact among them. Estrous behavior was detected twice a day during the whole study. The number of ano-genital sniffing was greater (P<0.001) in males with sexual experience than in those without sit. The number of nudging, mount attempts, mounts, self-urination and flehmen response was not different (P>0.5) between males with and without sexual experience. The number of females exposed to males with (10/10) or without (9/10) sexual experience that displayed an estrous behavior, did not differ (P>0.05) between groups. These results show that sexually naive male goats, subjected to long day conditions, stimulate the estrous activity of anestrous female goats in the same the sexually experienced bucks do.
