Abstract

The objective of this study was to determine the response of yield components of buffel grass T-3686 from soil of the fertility island (IF) and of the adjacent area (AA) of the creosote bush communities. From each soil environment, two set of soil samples were taken (at 0 - 10 cm and 10 -25 cm depth). The physical and chemical soil properties were then analyzed. The soil was taken from the field and was deposited in black plastic bags and then the grass was sown. The productive answer of buffel grass at greenhouse level during three phenological stages (adoption, excision and physiological maturity) showed that the phytomass gross weight of and from the morphologic components of the yield, they were different only in the stage from physiological maturity, with the exception of the weight by the root, which was equal between the IF and the AA during the three studied stages. On the other hand, the weight of sprigs was higher in the plants developed in the IF. The number of offshoots was equal in both ground atmospheres, whereas the number of lateral offshoots and green leaves was much greater in the atmosphere of the island. The best physical and chemical conditions found in the ground of the IF reflected, in a direct way, a greater productive yield of the different morphologic components from the buffel grass T 3686, namely during the stage of physiological maturity.
