Various species of the genus Randia have been traditionally used for therapeutic purposes in different regions of Mexico. However, despite their widespread use in traditional medicine, a fundamental starting point for scientific validation of this genus has been established, which is still limited and requires greater attention. In this context, a literature review was conducted to identify multidisciplinary research focused on the chemical characterization of these species, as well as more specific studies aimed at evaluating their biological and pharmacological properties. The results obtained support their high potential value and broad pharmaceutical applications. The genus Randia is positioned as a promising plant resource that integrates biodiversity, science, and tradition; however, further comparative studies between species are still needed, as well as the standardization of ancestral extraction methods used for these purposes, toxicological evaluation, and in vivo trials, in order to consolidate their sustainable use and their possible incorporation into health strategies.
