Fertilización foliar y regulación hormonal en el cultivo de papa (Solanum tuberosum, L.) en Saltillo, Coahuila

The potato crop is cultivated at the region of Derramadero, Saltillo, Coahuila, under favorable climatic conditions, but the clayish calcareous soils, with alcaline pH, and low organic matter content, limit root growth and development, water supply and availability of several nutrients, therefore yield are relatively low.
Several rates of two growth regulators complexes, one for sprouting and other recommended before flowering (BTS y BTF) and a starter foliar fertilizer (R400) were used to stimulate plants and to achieve higher sprouting uniformity, to generate vigorous growth and to increase root development in order to obtain a more efficient nutrient absortion to increase yield and tuber quality. Alpha was the used cultivar.
Plants with treatment of 5 cc of BTS/I shown a more uniform and vigorous development; R400 at 16 kg/ha increased root density, leaf area index, foliar nutrition and yield. High level of BTF, interacting with R400 increased plant growth, root density and leaf area index, but the additive effect reduced total yield and tuber quality. BTS improved sprouting percentge and its vigor, but with no statistical difference among treatments. The treatment higher yield treatment was 16 kg of R400/ha + 5 cc of BTS/I + 1.5 I of BTF/ha with 50.56 ton/ha.
