Abstract

In order to compare two methods for analysing diallel crosses, namely: Griffing method II with F1's plus parents only once (Method G56), and Griffing method II with F1's plus n-1 times each parent (Method M68), five true breeding bread wheat lines and their 10 F's possible crosses were evaluated. M68 method had consistently lower experimental precision for all the characters analyzed; on the other hand, G56 method estimated genetic variances of lower values. However, both methods assigned GCA relative effects likewise to the same entries.
