Abstract

The control of Tetranychus urticae in mainly performed by means of acaricides, that is why this species has developed a resistance to the majority of the products that are used to combat it. This ability of T. urticae to develop resistance has caused problems in some plants under greenhouse, and field conditions. In this assay it is determined the susceptibility, and the mechanisms of resistance of a population of T. urticae collected in a rose bush, at a greenhouse. Five acaricides were used to evaluate the susceptibility of this population; Avermectin, Bifentrin, Dicofol, Naled and Fenbutatin oxide,. These acaruses were susceptible to Avermectina and resistant to the other acaricidas. Biochemical tests were used to know the levels of enzymes a y b-esterases, oxidases, glutation S-transferase, acetylcholinesterase, insensible acetylcholinesterase of the two populations of T. urticae; one of laboratory, and another one from a field in the State of Mexico. The levels of a y b-esterases, and oxidases were higher in the field population, than in the laboratory one. These results suggest that a y b-es terases, and oxidases, are involved in the resistance of the population of the State of Mexico, to the acaricides Bifentrin, Dicofol, Naled and Fenbutatin oxide.
