Incidencia y severidad de la marchitez del agave tequilana Weber var. azul en la zona sur del Estado de Nayarit, México

Incidence and Severity of Wilting in Agave tequilana Weber Var. Azul in the Southern Area of the Mexican state of Nayarit. In order to assay the incidence and severity of wilting in agave (Agave tequilana Weber var. Azul), caused by Fusarium oxysporum in Santa Maria del Oro, Nay., Mexico, two systematic samplings were carried out, the first one in August 2006 (rainy season) and the second one in March 2007 (dry season). A third sampling, focused on plants that showed a grade 2 of wilting, was carried out founding different degrees of wilting in the agave plants with values ranging from 83 to 100% in all locations. For the first sampling date (August 2006) prevalence values were found in different plots ranging from 83.5 to 94%, while on the second date (March 2007), values ranged from 98.5 to 100%. In the third sampling the pathogen was present, with grade 2, in 40 to 75% of the plants.
