The corn grains (Zea mays) are susceptible to the proliferation of toxigenic molds like Fusarium moniliform, Aspergillus Flavus and Aspergillus ochraceus. In addition to the direct damages caused by the infected plants, these molds produce a great variety of secondary metabolites, some of which are toxic when ingested by humans and animals, via contaminated foods. In this assay the effects of hydrosoluble methanolic extract of gobernadora (Larrea tridentata) was evaluated (L. tridentata) to 25 % of total solids, for its action against the infestation of F. moniliforme, A. flavus and A. ochraceus in corn grains stored for a 180-day period checking for results every 30 days. The extract was assayed in doses of 4,000; 6,000 and 8,000 ppm. The results showed that in a dose of 6,000 ppm the percentage of infestation with A. flavus, and A. ochraceus was lower, however, for F. moniliforme the doses that inhibited the pathogen were: 4,000 and 8,000 ppm. All the doses had a fungicide effect. As the storage period was increased, the infestation percentage became higher.
